Go East

After the rainy start in Brno we did two things. First, we visited the Spiš Castle, and second we diverted from our originally planned route. Prior to our departure, we quite thoroughly studied the visa specifications of even the most exotic countries, yet we overlooked the fact that for a few years already, we don’t need a visa in order to enter Ukraine. After this surprising discovery, just a few days before leaving, we decided that this could be a great rehearsal for our long journey through Russia.

As for the beginning of our journey, the only thing worth mentioning is the big disappointment with the contrast between the neglected east Slovakia and its broken roads, and the nice clean villages on the Polish side of the border (or in fact one should call it the one 150km long village).  We then got to the border crossing between Poland and Ukraine.
